Meal 3: Vichyssoise, Lamb with mustard and mint and Chocolate truffles

Alright, I have to say, the Vichyssoise was straight up AWESOME! and not difficult to make at all. However I think I messed up the lamb. In the picture (from the book) the gravy looked a lot thicker but mine came out very watery. Perhaps it’s different when you cook it in a pressure cooker? Or perhaps you were supposed to let it simmer and thicken and I forgot to do so :P

Anyway, it still tasted ok, so no harm done. We were so hungry! As for the Chocolate truffles, I should’ve left it to harden in the fridge for longer, but I was in a hurry so in the end it didn’t hold it’s shape - hence the very flat, shapeless chocolate truffles in the photo above :D Still it tasted amazing for something that is made using 3 ingredients!!

The final results:

Ease of cooking: 4/5

Taste: 4/5

Ease of getting the ingredients: 5/5

Price: 5/5

Overall: 4/5

Ok, so 3 down, 29 left to go! :D

Meal 9: Lime marinated fish, Ossobuco and Pina colada

So meal was awesome. The pina colada had a little sumthin sumthin lacking, but the lime marinated fish and ossobuco were ace.

The winner was the lime marinated fish. This little dish is easy to make and unsuspecting but still super yummy!

I don’t know if it matters, but the recipe called for white rum but I used dark rum and powdered coconut milk (hard to find the real stuff here in Barcelona) so perhaps that is what threw the taste of the pina colada off?

Anyway, here are my ratings:

Ease of cooking: 4/5

Taste: 5/5

Ease of getting the Ingredients: 5/5

Price: 4/5

Overall: 5/5

Next recipe will have lamb :D

Meal 12: Potato Salad, Thai Beef curry and Strawberries in Vinegar

This recipe needs a prep time of 3 and a half hours - for me anyway because I don’t own a pressure cooker, so I had to use the oven.

A bit of a hiccup the first time I tried to cook the recipe. I had defrosted the wrong thing. I defrosted fish instead of beef!!! So I had to do it the next day.

Being Asian and all, I was a little weary about a Spaniard teaching me how to cook Thai curry, but it turned out ok. Not great, but ok. The recipe called for blade of beef, no idea what that is so I used what I had in the freezer. Perhaps that is why the meat came out dry.

My ratings:

Ease of cooking: 3/5

Taste: 3/5

Ease of getting the Ingredients: 5/5

Price: 4/5

Overall: 3/5

All in all, I wouldn’t cook this again. Just not my thing sadly. :D
